In the heart of Turin, a panoramic penthouse is born from the fusion of two pre-existing apartments located in the raised elevations of an eclectic late 19th-century historic building. The design challenge was to transform two distinct residential units into a single fluid and harmonious space, capable of engaging in dialogue with the extraordinary 360-degree view of the city and the surrounding Alpine arc.

The design has been developed around the idea of lightness and spatial continuity, with the aim of creating an environment that is both welcoming and scenic. The centerpiece of the penthouse is a large terrace that extends the living area, ideally projecting it toward the hillside of Turin. Natural light, flooding the rooms through the large windows, in combination with the technical lighting design we developed, becomes a key element of the project, highlighting the architectural details and creating evocative atmospheres. The kitchen, modern and functional with its bronze nuances, perfectly complements the warm oak flooring, chosen for all the penthouse rooms.

The staircase, a sculptural element connecting the two levels, is a real purpose-designed design object: a steel structure only 6 mm thick, sinuously unraveling along the Salon wall. A floor inlay of extra-clear glass, on the other hand, allows the verticality of the space to be perceived, from the lower level to the roof, bringing it back to sight.

The interior design has been meticulously planned in every detail and focused on creating a dialogue between contrasts and harmonies. The orientation of spaces and the treatment of surfaces interacting with natural light aim to create an environment that reflects the personality of the owners and enhances the potential of the historic architecture. The new furniture volumes, all custom-designed, in the living area play with the color contrasts of black and white enriched with golden accents, defining an elegant and contemporary space. In the sleeping area, on the other hand, the tones become softer, with sky blues and pearl grays creating a relaxing and enveloping atmosphere.

At last, the lighting design has been studied to provide different lighting scenarios, with accents that enhance the architectural details and with diffuse lighting that creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. A place where extraordinary views of the city and mountains blend with intimate and welcoming architecture, resulting in a unique living experience. An example of architecture that, while rising to the sky, maintains a strong connection to the urban and landscape context. A down-to-earth cloud.
