Renovation of the San Girolamo area in Este – Work in progress
edit
The project involves urban and architectural interventions aimed at the establishment of a new square and parking lot and the functional revision, consolidation and preservation of existing buildings. The new plaza is the result of a new urban vision capable of laying the groundwork for the overall redefinition of an area historically characterized by a manufacturing vocation. A whole new face for the city is thereby defined, a place of dialogue and synergy, a new courtyard, a hinge of urban reconnection between the various components in the area.

The layout of the outdoor areas includes the creation of a new pedestrian plaza, a central public space for the city of Este, designed to host a courtyard equipped for sociality and events targeted to various fields of interest serving the public. This new city area includes the restoration and re-functionalization of existing buildings into four architectures-manifestos with new intended uses: start-up spaces, co-working spaces, multipurpose halls and a guesthouse.

The intervention takes a very careful and respectful approach to morphological, environmental and material characteristics from the perspective of enhancing the pre-existences, transforming the San Girolamo area into a place with an extraordinary potential in which a new “piece of the city” is brought to life, redefining the urban structure consistently with the identitary value of the places.
