The project had the purpose of conservatively restoring the facades of the Villa, the main courtly and representative part of the entire Borgo Cornalese complex designed in the early decades of the 19th century according to neoclassical canons based on a design by Arch. Benedetto Brunati Cantoni.

The conservative restoration of the facades focused on the elimination of degradation pathologies, particularly at the plasterwork, stone elements, bricks, metal elements, wooden elements, and fixtures. An exhaustive diagnostic campaign was aimed at characterizing the different materials in situ (stones, mortars, bricks, pictorial finishes) and assessing their state of preservation, thus providing the basis for a proper conservative intervention design.

In addition, micro-coring was carried out at different depths and heights, located on those portions of the masonry of the front of the building that showed moisture-related problems, in order to verify the actual water content involved. Special attention was therefore paid to the characterization of the original masonry in order to identify those interventions and materials with the highest physical-chemical compatibility with the historic pre-existence.
